Dunhill

In 1983 at the age of just twenty-one, a young gentleman inventor, Alfred Dunhil, inherited his father's saddlery business on London's Euston Road. It was to be the start of a quite remarkable story.

The entrepreneurial Alfred quickly responded to a growing passion for automobiles amongst London's elite - and developed a luxurious line of accessories called Dunhill's Motorities. The first collection included car horns and lamps, leather overcoats, goggles, picnic sets and timepieces. Alfreds claim was to provide "Everthing but the motor" to his discerning clientele.

By the end of the first decade of the 1900s, the Alfred Dunhill business was firmly established, with a reputation for excellence and innovation. And deservedly so! An ingenious windshield pipe, sun goggles (the first driving sunglasses), Bobby Finders (driving goggles with binocular attachments to spot police speeding traps!), the dashboard clock and the dunhill rear view mirror were but a few of Alfred's invetions at this time.

In the 1920s the company expanded into providing true luxury goods including crystal ware, leather goods, stationary, frames, diaries, cocktail sets and bar accessories

The 50s and 60s saw continued expansion across the globe and by the mid-sixties, Dunhill was offering a range of 3500 luxury products for men, including the first ready to wear menswear collection.

Today, the Alfred Dunhill business reaches all over the world. with over 150 stores, and in excess of 7000 points of distribution, they serve customers in over 50 markets globally. With over 100 years of experience, Alfred Dunhill has become the leading maker and purveyor of English luxury goods for men using highly skilled craftsmen to combine innovation in design and function with the finest materials available.
